Japan's justice minister: Ghosn's words 'baseless'

Japan's justice minister on Thursday said she wanted to "correct" any perception, created by former Nissan chair Carlos Ghosn fleeing the country, that the country's justice system is unfair.

Masako Mori held a special press conference in response to criticism by Ghosn, who fled Japan while awaiting trial for financial misconduct allegations.

Ghosn fled to Lebanon and said in a Beirut press conference that he had "zero chance" of a fair trial in Japan.

Mori told reporters in Tokyo that Ghosn's comments about Japan's judicial system are "abstract, unclear of their intention, or baseless."
