Japanese organising consultant and author, Marie Kondo has launched an unexpected homeware store online on November 19. Kondo, who has urged people to 'throw away crap' in order to have a more organised life is now urging people to buy more items like a $50 tuning fork and  $96 ladle. The author has also starred in a hit Netflix show, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo where she helped people get more organised. According to Kondo, the shop at KonMari is a way to share the details of her life while selling the items which 'spark joy'. However, most fans were surprised by the recent shift in Kondo's trademarked method to have a 'happy life'.

'Joy test' at KonMari

The products at KonMari range from $8 ceramic chopstick to a $275 kitchen tool holder made by a renowned brassware manufacturer, Futagami. However, Kondo has also shared some items on the site which she herself does not use, and is calling it a 'joy test' because they align with the basic principles of the 'organising queen'. Most of the items showcase minimalism and are neutral in colour which completely abides with her style and is easy to inspire joy among others who prefer a 'sense of calm'. There's a unique item in her site, $75 tuning fork and crystal which supposedly Kondo is never without.

Seven departments to organise

As of now, Kondo is selling unique items in seven departments for a more systematic life and covers all aspects. They are Decor & Living, Tidying & Organisation, Tabletop & Entertaining, Cooking & Kitchen, Bath Essentials, Aromatherapy, and Books. With just a few hours after the launch of the shop, many items were nearly sold-out like Kondo's leather room shoes by Morihata for $206. Apparently these shoes are hand-made in Tokyo and crafted in a blush suede which is washable and padded for clean comfort. Another product which Kondo's fans loved is a $42 flower bouquet tote made of denim from a zero-waste company based in San Francisco.
