Australian prime minister Scott Morrison said Friday he discussed what he called Australia's "great success" in dealing with COVID-19 with United States president-elect Joe Biden.

Morrison said Biden was interested in Australia's strategy in battling the virus, including the country's quarantine arrangements for people returning from overseas.

He said he'll be sharing a copy of Australia's National Contact Tracing Review with Biden and also with the outgoing Trump administration.

"It tells the story of why Australia is being successful and will continue to be successful," Morrison told reporters in Canberra.

He said he wished both Biden and Trump "all the best in dealing with what is just an awful, an awful situation there."

During his telephone conversation with Biden, which took place Thursday, Morrison invited the president-elect to Australia next year to celebrate the 70th anniversary of their bilateral defense treaty.
