Temporary hospitals built to treat coronavirus patients in Russia had to reopen in Moscow after the nation reported a record number of new infections on Friday.

12,126 cases were recorded that day in what was Russia's highest daily total increase since the start of the pandemic.

That figure also included over 4,000 new infections in the Russian capital.

Temporary hospitals which were setup in the country to deal with the pandemic had closed down as cases dropped over summer.
