NASA astronauts play baseball in space to celebrate World Series

NASA astronauts celebrated the World Series which is the annual championship league of Baseball by playing baseball in space. Christina H Koch, Jessica Meir, and Andrew Morgan are currently the residents of International Space Station for various research programs. However, they did not stay behind to celebrate the ongoing Fall Classic and the astronauts were reportedly anticipating the game between Washington Nationals and Houston Astros. Jessica Meir shared the image saying that the game found its way to the Space Station while the video of the three crew members playing baseball in the space lab was also shared by the official page for the coverage of World Series.

Netizens amused

Soon after the images surfaced on Twitter, the people of the internet were filled with numerous questions about playing the game in a lab of International Space Station. While most of the people hilariously imagined a scenario where the astronauts 'break the window' while some of them even asked what will happen if they damage a 'valve or something'. Netizens were also seen amazed by the uncertainty and the world beyond earth, one of the Twitter users also called it 'augmented reality'.

The largest crew aboard since 2015

The three-member crew including Jessica Meir and two other astronauts from Russia and UAE landed on International Space Station on September 25. The eight days between their arrival and departure of the spacecraft Soyuz MS-12 will be the largest crew abroad since September 2015. IN 2015, there were nine crew members abroad for seven days during another year-long mission by two astronauts, Scott Kelly and Mikhail Kornienko. Astronaut Mier will be spending six months in the station for nearly 250 science investigations in various fields including biology, earth science, human research, physical sciences, and technology development.
