Russian activists with Alexei Navalny's team said on Tuesday a social media demonstration is to take place on Sunday across the nation.

Leonid Volkov, Russian an opposition figure and Navalny's ally announced on his Facebook page and in an interview with MBKH Media that the protest will be a "completely different format" with "no law-enforcers."

He appealed on his Facebook page to Russian citizens to "go out in your courtyard. Turn on a flashlight on your phone, lift it high up and stand like this a few minutes," and to then publish photos on Instagram.

The idea, Volkov said, is inspired by a heart-shaped hand signal Navalny gave to his wife while in court.

According to his interview to the MBKH, the team will avoid meeting law-enforcement officers.

In response to the announcement of the demonstration, Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for President Vladmir Putin, wouldn't give the Kremlin's opinion, but assured that if anyone violates the law, they will be held accountable for it.
