New Zealand cafe calls 2-year-old kid 'terrifying', later apologises

A New Zealand cafe issues an apology to a woman after she felt insulted after the cafe wrote 'terrifying' on the invoice to describe her 2-year old daughter.

A New Zealand cafe has apologized for an incident in which a woman said she felt insulted after the cafe wrote 'terrifying' on the invoice to describe her 2-year-old daughter. The woman, Kimberley Sze doubted that she had been overcharged at Coffee Supreme in Christchurch and requested the cafe for a bill, according to the reports. When she checked the invoice she felt insulted because the receipt read, "Fam with the terrifying kid".

Mother shares the note on Facebook

Sze posted the invoice on Facebook on November 1 slamming the note as disrespectful and said that the staff had overcharged them for the meal. She wrote, "Writing 'family with the terrifying kid' on our ticket AND intentionally overcharging us... nice one". She further added that her daughter was polite and friendly at the cafe. She said that her daughter was never indisciplined and caused any problems and the same staff working today always comment on how disciplined and sweet she is. The Facebook post was concluded by her saying that her family left the restaurant without getting their food and the food joint had also lost some of their regular customers.

Cafe apologises, offers full refund

After the incident went viral on Facebook, the Coffee Supreme apologized to Sze and offered her a full refund for the meal. The cafe's manager, Tim Norriss also met her personally and apologised to her and said that the employee who had made the note has been suspended for a few days. Sze said that she is elated with the cafe's response. Sze told a local news agency that the culture and values they have as a company creates a very positive atmosphere and added that its not the fault of the company. In an apology post, Coffee Supreme wrote on Facebook, "We are incredibly sorry and wish to apologize publicly" and added that the cafe would provide free coffees and chocolate drinks to young children and their parents till the weekend.
