Catholics in Nigeria attended Easter Mass Sunday via a live telecast from the Holy Cross Cathedral in Lagos, due to a government stay-at-home order to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.

Reverend Father Marcellinus Teko, who manages the cathedral, encouraged believers to "look up to God" as the world faces the coronavirus pandemic.

Health authorities in Nigeria have recorded 310 COVID-19 cases with 10 deaths.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.

For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia and death.
