The Diamond Princess cruise ship will begin allowing passengers to disembark in Yokohama on Wednesday, after it was quarantined for 14 days.

The Japanese health minister said on Tuesday in a press conference that due to the large amount of people onboard it may take a number of days for everyone to disembark.

Those who test negative for the virus are allowed to disembark on Wednesday, but depending on the testing capacity, the disembarkation process may last through Friday.

The largest number of cases of the new deadly virus outside China is among the passengers and crew of the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

The Japanese Health Ministry has tested 1,723 people among the 3,700 initially on board, and 454 have tested positive.
