Israel lifted most of its restrictions imposed to contain the coronavirus outbreak on Thursday and allowed malls, gyms and markets to reopen.

Temperature checks will be conducted at all entrances and shoppers are required to wear face masks and keep a distance of two meters from each other.

Israel imposed sweeping restrictions on movement and ordered most businesses to close in mid-March.

The country begun recently to ease restrictions as the rate of new infection seems to have stabilized.

So far, Israel's Ministry of Health has confirmed 16,346 infections and 239 deaths.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
