Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday embarked on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia with an aim to boost bilateral ties between the two countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday embarked on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia with an aim to boost bilateral ties between the two countries in key sectors including energy and finance. According to reports, PM Modi is visiting the kingdom at the invitation of Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Reports further suggest that he will hold talks with the Saudi Crown Prince and launch the RuPay card in the Kingdom. He will also attend the third session of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Forum in Riyadh, where he will deliver the keynote address. 

A detailed schedule of PM Modi in Riyadh on October 29

  • The programme of PM Modi in Riyadh will commence on Tuesday at 10.30 am.
  • Call on by the Minister of Energy, H.R.H. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud at 10: 50 am. 
  • Call on by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud at 11:10 am. 
  • Call on by the Minister of Labour & Social Development, H.E. Ahmad bin Sulaiman Alrajhi at 11:30 am. 
  • Call on by the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, H.E. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al Fadley at 14:00 pm.
  • Lunch will be hosted by H.M. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at 14:50 pm.
  • A meeting with H.M. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at 15:20 pm. 
  • PM Modi will sign the Strategic Partnership Council Agreement & Exchange of Agreements at 17:30 pm. 
  • A keynote address by PM Modi at FII followed by an interaction with the moderator at 19:00 pm. 
  • PM Modi will be meeting H.R.H. Crown Prince at 20:00 pm. 
  • He will attend a dinner hosted by H.R.H. Crown Prince at 22:15 pm.

PM Modi on Saudi visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday stated that the visit to the Kingdom will "strengthen the bilateral ties." He also stated that Saudi Arabia and India are working together in various sectors.

Pakistan denies use of air space

Pakistan, on Sunday, turned down a request from India for the use of its airspace for PM's visit to Saudi Arabia. According to reports, India had sought Pakistan's permission to use the country's airspace on October 28 for PM Modi. Further, as per sources, the Centre has taken the matter to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
