Cambodia carried out its first COVID-19 vaccinations on Wednesday, three days after the first doses arrived from China, the country's closet political ally.

The three sons of long-serving Prime Minister Hun Sen were among the first people to be vaccinated, along with his two sons-in-law, the ministers, government officials and an army general.

China agreed to donate 1 million doses of Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccine to Cambodia.

The first shipment of 600,000 doses arrived Sunday with a reception ceremony at Phnom Penh International Airport attended by Hun Sen, his senior Cabinet ministers and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian.
