Pres.Sooronbay Jeenbekov at ceremony for coronavirus victims

Kyrgyzstan's President Sooronbay Jeenbekov took part in an Islamic religious ceremony on Thursday, mourning those who lost their lives from the coronavirus pandemic in the Central Asian nation.

Kyrgyzstan's President Sooronbay Jeenbekov took part in an Islamic religious ceremony on Thursday, mourning those who lost their lives from the coronavirus pandemic in the Central Asian nation.

Kyrgyz authorities had earlier declared Thursday a day of mourning for the victims of the coronavirus.

"Let the souls of our deceased compatriots rest in peace, may their souls be in heaven," the president said.

Jeenbekov went on to pray for the speedy recovery of those who are sick.

Meanwhile, a team of Russian military medical doctors has been treating coronavirus patients in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek since July 22.

They have examined about 100 patients, Russian media reported.

As of Thursday, Kyrgyzstan had recorded 1,347 deaths from the coronavirus.
