Key creative members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Anthony and Joseph Russo, are all set to launch a new series documenting the years-long rivalry between Marvel and DC. The series titled Slugfest will be available in Quibi, a mobile TV subscription start-up established by Jeffrey Katzenberg. According to the reports, Slugfest is inspired by Reed Tucker’s book Slugfest: Inside the Epic. The documentary series is produced by the Russo Brothers who has directed several hits for Marvel like Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War.

Lesser-known stories about Marvel, DC

The series will document the growth of comic books as a new American art form, following the rise of the two companies that went on to become comics-publishing and Hollywood powerhouses. The producers have promised that Slugfest will bring to light little known stories about Marvel and DC, that includes interviews of the creators of the best-known superhero characters. The series will be directed by Don Argott and Sheena M. Joyce, who are behind the award-winning documentaries Believer and Framing John DeLorean. The series will be funded by Todd Makurath, Peter Rieveschl,  Nick Gilhool, and Jen Casey.

In September it was announced that the two will receive the International Cinematographers Guild Publicists Motion Picture Showman of the Year Award at the 57th Annual Publicists awards ceremony scheduled to be held next year.
