As lockdown measures are being eased across Europe, the European Commission unveiled a package of measures on Wednesday for the EU's recovery from the new coronavirus pandemic.

The proposed measures include common guidelines on cross-border movements, transport, hotels, restaurants and museums.

In order to make holidays possible in 2020, some EU countries have asked for the non-discriminatory re-opening of internal European borders and for unified European health checks and sanitary protocols for travelling and tourism.

The EU is seeking common rules and protocols for tourism recovery, a key industry in EU countries such as Italy, Greece, Croatia, Portugal and Spain, an action plan to kick-start the tourism sector which directly contributed 3.9% to EU GDP in 2018.

Malaga is a get-away vacation spot for many European tourists.

Many English and German have remained faithful in recent years.

But beaches of Costa del Sol are now empty and hotels, tourist resorts and beach bars are closed.

The Spanish tourism sector is against the 14-day quarantine for all foreign travellers that Spanish government has just approved.

Overseas visitors will be only allow to go to health centres, buy food and drugs.

More than 1.4 million travellers stayed in Malaga hotels and 19.8 million passengers flew to Malaga airport in 2019, according to Malaga's tourism office.
