People in Thailand flocked to schools and observatories where telescopes were provided to view the last solar eclipse of the year.

The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand sent their staff and equipment to some 400 schools throughout the country to watch Thursday's astronomical phenomenon.

With a giant telescope on their school yard, students at Santirat Witthayalai School witnessed the celestial event as the sky darkened across Thailand around midday.

While countries like Singapore and Sri Lanka will enjoy a full solar eclipse, those in Thailand only experienced a partial one.

During a so-called "ring of fire" eclipse, the partially covered sun transforms into a ring of light.
