Wuhan, the Chinese city hardest hit by the coronavirus outbreak, started lifting outbound travel restrictions on Wednesday, after nearly 11 weeks of lockdown.

Inter-city buses from Wuhan to the other regions of Hubei province have been resumed, but the inter-province lines are still frozen, China's Central Television said.

A total of 276 passenger trains will leave Wuhan on Wednesday for destinations including Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Fuzhou, with an estimated total of 55-thousand travellers, according to CCTV.

When going through the boarding process, passengers will first need to present a valid health code via a cell phone app when entering the train station, as well as having body temperatures checked.

Passengers are also advised to keep their face masks on the whole time during their train journey.

The airport in Wuhan resumed domestic passenger flights early Wednesday.

Again, passengers have to receive body temperature checks and show the green QR codes on their mobile phones before entering the airport's terminal, according to CCTV.

The airport is expected to see more than 200 inbound and outbound flights on the day, according to the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport.
