Venezuela Foreign Minister meets Iranian President Rouhani

Iranian state media reported that the main purpose of Arreaza's visit was to strengthen bilateral ties between Tehran and Caracas.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza met with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday in Tehran, as part of a three-day trip to Iran.

Arreaza, Venezuela's former vice president, arrived in the Iranian capital on Sunday night, heading a high-ranking delegation.

He held talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday and offered his condolences over the killing of Iranian top general Qassem Soleimani by the U.S., Iran's official news agency reported.

Iranian state media reported that the main purpose of Arreaza's visit was to strengthen bilateral ties between Tehran and Caracas.

Arreaza's trip to Iran comes a week after he visited China.
