VIRAL: Man robs a woman at an ATM but gives the money back when he sees her bank balance

An almost-thief was caught on camera trying to rob a woman, before spotting how skint she was and handing the money back. The CCTV footage obtained by China Global Television Network showcases the man, armed with a knife, approaching a woman as she is using the ATM machine. Soon after that, the two exchange words, and soon the terrified woman cane be seen handing over all the cash to the thief, which was reportedly 2,500 yuan.

However, in a bizarre turn of events, the thief asks to see her bank balance and after spotting her bank balance on the screen, which was a zero, decides to hand back all the money to her and walks of with a smile.

The CCTV from outside the bank where the nearly-robbery took place captures him walking off, without the money, while the woman seemingly tries to process what has just happened to her. The incident took place in Heyuan City, South China, and according to reports, the almost thief was later detained by the police.
