In a video that has gone viral, a woman is seen pushing Brazil's most popular priest off the stage as he was delivering his sermon.
As per reports, the incident took place when a public mass was going on in Sao Paulo in Brazil. The priest, Father Marcelo Rossi, who is known to be the country's most popular priest, was delivering a live sermon during a ceremony which saw at least 50,000 participants, reports say. The incident took place at the headquarters of Canção Nova, a Brazilian Catholic community which known to stream religious material online, as per reports.
The priest also happens to be a Grammy-nominated Latin singer and called 'popstar priest'. As per reports, he has sold millions of records in the country.
As seen in the video, the priest is amid delivering his sermon when suddenly a woman comes into the frame running from the left and pushes him from behind leading him to fall in the pit. She herself appears to then enter it.
As per reports, the woman came to the event from Rio De Janeiro. The police have said that she is believed to suffer from mental health issues.
As per a statement by Cancao Nova the priest is doing well and is being attended by the medical staff at the event. He even presided over celebration towards the end. The priest had said in a short video that he suffered from pain but nothing was broken. The priest did not press charges after the woman was detained.
Despite the caption in the above tweet containing the video claiming that the priest is against gay people, the statement cannot be currently confirmed. It is also being said on social media platforms that he fat-shamed women in his sermons but that is inaccurate as per reports.
