Demonstrators in Myanmar took to the streets again on Tuesday to protest last month’s seizure of power by the military, as foreign ministers from Southeast Asian countries prepared to meet to discuss the political crisis.

Police in Yangon, Myanmar's biggest city, used tear gas against the protesters in the Sanchaung area of the city.

The demonstrators shouted their defiance of the military while crouching behind a wall of flimsy shields on a road.

They threw banana skins onto the road in front of them to try and hinder police activity.

Security forces have stepped up their attempts to stamp out resistance to the 1 February takeover, using deadly force in many cities, including in Yangon.
