Yemen hospital suffers in Houthi missile attack, eight people killed

One of the hospitals operating in the western Yemen region suffered destruction by a recent Houthi attack, an international medical relief agency informed media

One of the hospitals operating in the western Yemen region suffered destruction by a recent Houthi attack, an international medical relief agency informed on November 7. The hospital was run by the agency. The huge explosion near the hospital has killed at least eight people. 

Yemen hospital suffers Houthi attack

There have been several attacks on Yemen. In the recent attack, the Yemini military officials have accused the Houthi rebels of firing missiles and drones on the buildings located at the Red Sea city of Al-Mocha. The Doctor Without Borders informed in a statement that the hospital was shut down due to attack, no deaths and injuries have been reported among the patients and the patients were shifted to other hospitals in the Red Sea city. 

Mocha holds extreme significance as it is an international port for aid. UN-led negotiations have also been taking place on this port since December 2018 for a cease-fire.

No one was injured inside the hospital

The MSF or Doctors Without Borders said they were providing free services to the people injured during the war. They opened a hospital in the month of August in 2018. One of the general doctors of the hospital named Abdel-Rahman Ahmed told an international news agency that the patients in the hospital ran after the attack on a weapons warehouse. the attack resulted in mass destruction.

Yemen and Houthi conflict

Yemen has been facing conflict for the past five years. The Houthi movement has controlled the capital of Yemen, Sanaa and the northern region of the country since 2014. The Houthi movement in Yemen is supported by Iran and is in constant conflict with the government of Yemen led by President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi and supported by Saudi Arabia and the United States. 

A Yemen government spokesman, Dobish, said that the attacks at Red Sea city targetted the Giants Brigade. The brigade is a government-aligned force.

The War in Yemen

A Saudi-led coalition has been struggling with the rebels since March 2015. The Houthi rebels are being backed by Iranian forces hold Yemen's capital, Sanaa, and another territory in the Arab world's poorest country. The war has become the world's worst humanitarian crisis. The violence has pushed Yemen to the brink of famine and killed 100,000 people since 2015, according to the US-based Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, or ACLED, which tracks the conflict. UN investigators said the Houthis' new UAV-X drone, found in recent months during the Saudi-led coalition's war in Yemen, likely has a range of up to 1,500 kilometers (930 miles). That puts the far reaches of both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in range.
