The United States is waging a war against the Russian Federation, "whether they want to admit it or not," Russia's Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, said on Sunday, September 17. Lavrov derided the Western allies of Ukraine for pumping weapons into the regime of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, saying that it would only drag the conflict for many more years.

"They're supplying weapons, ammunition and intelligence to Ukraine," Lavrov said, having previously accused the West of "grotesque Russophobia." As the United States resorted to delivery of long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine, defiant Lavrov had warned the West that it "will not change the essence of what is happening."

Russia's President Vladimir Putin's Foreign Minister lambasted the United States, Europe and other allies of Kyiv for "seeking to destroy Russia." At the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Lavrov launched a scathing attack on the United States, EU, and Kyiv saying that "official Russophobia in the West was unprecedented, but now the scope is grotesque."

"They are not shying away from declaring the intent to inflict not only military defeat on our country but also to destroy and fracture Russia," Lavrov asserted making a fiery speech.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov is expected to attend the UNGA scheduled for the upcoming week. He will have an "extremely busy" schedule of bilateral meetings during the high-level session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia reportedly said. Lavrov will participate in a number of important events in a multilateral format, including meetings of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), BRICS and the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter, the ambassador added.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, meanwhile, is also expected to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York and will later travel to Washington to address the US Congress. The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to meet with US President Joe Biden, and US senators as they're set to approve another tranche of military aid for the war-battered nation.

Next step for Biden administration to send 'mini nukes' to Kyiv? Ex CIA officer thinks so

A former Central Intelligence Agency officer Ray McGovern, in his remark earlier yesterday, said that the next logical step for the Biden administration to take when it comes to arming Ukraine to wean off Russian aggression may very well be to provide its client 'with mini-nukes', referring to the nuclear weapons.

“We’re running out of ammunition. The president says ‘Ok, let’s give the Ukrainians some more ammunition,’ and his advisors say ‘We’re too low. So what else have we got? Well we don’t have any more 155 mm shells for our howitzers and so forth but we could give them cluster munitions.’ Now we’re giving them depleted uranium shells. And what’s the next step? Well, the next step would be these little mini-nukes. We’ll give them that, if push comes to shove,’” McGovern said in a podcast appearance alongside Scott Ritter, a former US Marine Corps intelligence officer and former United Nations Special Commission inspector.

Ritter, in his previous analysis, noted that it is highly unlikely that Russia will use nuclear weapons in Ukraine as it is capable of solving all tasks with conventional weapons. "Russia is not going to use nuclear weapons [in Ukraine], I don’t know why people can’t get it," Ritter emphasized.
