Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday hailed the decision to allow his country to become an associate member of the Multilateral Interoperability Program.

The program, known as MIP, is not a formal NATO program but is made up of Alliance members with the aim of sharing Command and Control information.

Speaking in his evening address Zelenskyy said being part of the program would allow the country to begin applying and developing some of the Alliance's standards.

Earlier in the day, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry announced that it had become an associate member in the Multilateral Interoperability Program with German support in its application process.

"Now Ukraine not only implements NATO standards but also can participate in the development of new standards," Zelenskyy  said.

The president also praised the use of "modern artillery" being used by Ukrainian forces in the fight against the Russian invasion.
