Lula to decide on Brazil presidential candidacy next year

Former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Friday he will decide whether to run for office again at the beginning of next year.

Speaking in Brasilia, Lula also expresse hope the next president will be "someone who respects democracy, who likes democracy and puts democracy into practice."

In a nod to upcoming elections in 2022, Lula appeared to signal he will be campaigning in the coming months, without officially declaring his candidacy.

Most polls show him far ahead of Bolsonaro, as much as double digits, amongst voters in the country.
