President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro on Thursday criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, blaming him responsible for inciting a mob to assault the U.S. Capitol. The Venezuelan leader compared the violent actions and the incitement by President Trump to U.S. policies on foreign countries, as he referred to Iraq, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Panama. These are countries the U.S. has invaded.

Maduro commented on the situation during a meeting with the newly appointed lawmakers of the National Assembly, the Venezuelan military high command and the Cabinet. Maduro diverged from the majority of Latin American leaders who, for the most part, refrained from commenting on the events.
