Washington: Donald Trump has strongly requested Vladimir Putin to spare the lives of thousands of Ukrainian troops who have been surrounded by the Russian military and are in a very vulnerable position.
Taking to his own social media platform Truth Social, President Donald Trump mentioned that he had a very good and productive discussions with his Russian counterpart yesterday adding there is a very good chance that this horrible, bloody war can finally come to an end.
However, at this very moment, Trump requested Putin to spare the lives of thousands of Ukrainian troops who are completely surrounded by the Russian military, and in a very bad and vulnerable position. This would be a horrible massacre, one not seen since World War 2, he said.
Earlier, Donald Trump reacted to Putin's response on United States Ukraine ceasefire proposal saying his counterpart's statement was very promising but incomplete. "Hopefully Russia will do the right thing," Trump said.
Russia in its response to US-proposed 30-day ceasefire plan to halt the Ukraine war said that Moscow was looking for a permanent solution.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin has thanked US President Donald Trump, PM Modi and other world leaders for constantly keeping the Ukraine war in discussions and making efforts to resolve the crisis.
Earlier today, in another statement, Donald Trump has blamed his predecessor Joe Biden saying he got US into a real mess with Russia and everything else. In a long note on Truth Social Trump wrote, “Crooked Joe Biden got us into a real “mess” with russia (and everything else!), but I’m going to get us out. Millions of people are needlessly dead, never to be seen again… and there will be many more to follow if we don’t get the cease fire and final agreement with Russia completed and signed.”
Trump one more time repeated that there wouldn't have been any war if he was the President. “There would have been no war if I were President. It just, 100 per cent, would not have happened. Likewise, there would have been no October 7 with Israel, the pullout from Afghanistan would have been done with strength and pride, and would not have been the most embarrassing day in the history of our country, it could have been a moment of glory.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy , who has accused Putin of committing war crimes, termed his Russian counterpart's statement on ceasefire proposal as predictable and manipulative. Kyiv had expressed willingness to accept US proposal of a 30-day ceasefire to halt the war.
