New Delhi: In a recent phone call, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky once again extended an invitation to US Vice President JD Vance to visit Ukraine, reports claimed. During the conversation, Zelensky reportedly told Vance, "We are still waiting for you," accompanied by a lighthearted laugh. However, if reports are to be believed, Vance did not respond to the remark.

This comes days after President Trump, in a ‘very good’ phone call with Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefed his Ukrainian counterpart about his conversation with Vladimir Putin and agreed on a partial ceasefire—a step toward achieving permanent peace in the region.

Both leaders emphasised that all parties must continue efforts to make the ceasefire work. The call, which Zelenskyy described as “fruitful,” came just weeks after a disastrous Oval Office meeting between the two leaders and JD Vance that led to Trump temporarily pausing intelligence sharing and military aid to Ukraine.

Zelenskyy and Putin Agreed to a Limited Ceasefire

Meanwhile, Ukraine and Russia have agreed in principle to a limited ceasefire after former U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with both nations' leaders.

However, the timing of its implementation and the specific targets that would be excluded from attacks remain unclear.

The partial agreement to ease hostilities follows Russian President Vladimir Putin’s rejection of Trump’s proposal for a full 30-day ceasefire.

The ongoing challenge of securing a commitment from both sides to refrain from targeting each other’s energy infrastructure underscores the difficulties Trump faces in delivering on his campaign promise to swiftly end the war.
