'Suspicious packages' found at Indian and six other embassies and consulates in Australia, investigation underway

Suspicious packages have been found at seven foreign consulates, on January 9, in Melbourne and Canberra, the capital territory in Australia, as per reports.

Suspicious packages have been found at seven foreign consulates, on January 9, in Melbourne and the capital territory in Australia, as per reports. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) on Wednesday took to Twitter saying that the police have taken the suspicious packages delivered to embassies and consulates in Australian Capital Territory(ACT) and Victoria(VIC) into cognizance. Furthermore, the packages are being examined by the police and emergency services.

Melbourne’s Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) also took to social media to state that it was assisting the Australian Federal Police in the incident of packages being found at multiple embassies across Melbourne.

"MFB is assisting the Australian Federal Police at a number of incidents at embassies across Melbourne. Further information will be provided by the AFP when it becomes available," the tweet reads.

However, the content of the package has not been revealed by the police. Seven consulates where the mysterious packages were found include India, UK, Swiss, Korean and German among others.
