New Delhi: Forget diplomacy, US President Donald Trump had a far more pressing concern during his Oval Office meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin: socks.
“I love these socks! What’s with these socks? I’m trying to stay focused, but I’m gonna ask for the VP’s socks,” Trump said to reporters laughingly admiring Vice President J.D. Vance’s flashy shamrock-themed footwear.
The VP’s bold sock choice wasn’t just a fashion statement it was, as Vance put it, his way of “cementing the Irish-American relationship.”
“We try to use this breakfast to remind people of the important bonds of friendship between the United States and Ireland,” Vance had explained.
