Washington DC: The United States of America plans to impose Visa restrictions on citizens from 43 countries. An internal memo exclusively received and reviewed by the news agency Reuters, expresses that the move may impact thousands of students, travellers, working professional among many others.

This comes days after a press release statement by the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on "Visa Restriction Policy Targeting Foreign Officials and Others Facilitating Illegal Migration Into The United States".
The latest Visa ban on 43 countries is the latest in the series of measures implemented by the Trump administration aimed at curbing illegal immigration into the United States of America and tightening the National Security. This move is consistent with Donald Trump 's longstanding commitment to restricting immigration, as evident in his executive orders, like the mass deportation policies. The Visa ban is seen as an extension to these efforts, targeting countries which deemed to pose a security risk.
The Reuters was informed by a US Official, who wish to remain unnamed, that the proposal is still pending for approval from the administration, including Marco Rubio, and may undergo further revision.

The Proposal categorises the restrictions into 3 groups:

1) Full Visa Suspension, i.e., an absolute ban on issuance of Visas to citizens from these nations. 11 countries are included in the list, namely, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen.

2) Partial Visa Suspension, i.e., a ban on issuance of student Visa, tourist Visa, and other immigrant Visa from these nations with some exceptions. The list include 10 countries, namely, Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan , Russia, Sierra Leone, Turkmenistan and South Sudan.

3) Conditional Restriction, i.e., Countries in this list could face partial suspension of Visa issuance if they do not address security concerns within 60 days. The list include 22 countries, namely, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cambodia, Cameroon, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dominica, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Republic of the Congo, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Sao Tome and Principe, Vanuatu and Zimbabwe.

Impact:

This move could have far-reaching implications.
Economically, it could impact trade, tourism and business relations of both USA and the targeted nations.
Geopolitically, global cooperation on humanitarian issues, security concerns and climate change could be affected. America may strain its bilateral and multilateral relations and might attract a possible retaliatory action.
Socially, the cases of xenophobia, racism and social unrest may increase.
