London police pay tribute to colleague shot dead

Tributes were paid on Friday evening to Matiu Ratana, a British police officer who was shot dead inside a London police station earlier in the day.

Colleagues bowed their heads in silence and laid flowers outside the police station where he was killed.

Ratana died in hospital after a suspect he was placing in custody drew a gun and shot him.

The suspect - who was handcuffed at the time - then appears to have turned the gun on himself.

He's now critically ill in hospital.

The case is not being treated as terrorism.
