Britain's Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday arrived for a traditional church service at the royal family's Sandringham estate.

The monarch was joined by the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla at St Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas morning.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, their children as well as Prince Charles, were among other notable royal family members who also went to the 11am service.

The queen's husband Prince Phillip was not expected to attend the service, which was held a day after the royal family member was discharged from a London hospital.

Phillip had been treated for what Buckingham Palace was a "pre-cautionary measure" and spent four days at King Edward's VII Hospital.
