As the UK general election nears, the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon said on November 2 that Scotland's independence is knocking the doors.

As the UK general election nears, the First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon said on November 2 that Scotland's independence is knocking the doors which is very important to put the future of the region into its own hands. While addressing a gathering at the heart of Glasgow, Scotland she said the independence of the northernmost country is very near which will be a victory for the nation. She also said it is like a 'prize' for the citizens of the nations and they must strive hard to achieve it. She further added that the general elections are very important in their lifetimes.

Scotland does not want to leave EU: Nicola Sturgeon

Scotland is not willing to be ruled under autocracy under the government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson and does not want to exit the European Union, according to the First Minister. The nation doesn't want to be ripped out of European family nations against their will. She urged the people of Scotland to come out in numbers and vote wisely to put Scotland's future into its own hands. Sturgeon's comments came after the UK Parliament on Tuesday vowed to conduct a general election on December 12. The Prime Miniter of UK Boris Johnson has frequently been asking for an early election to break the deadlock over his renegotiated Brexit deal that turned aside from the country from leaving the EU on October 31.

The Referendum

Scotland has voted to remain in the EU in a plebiscite conducted in 2016 and opposes a form of Brexit. In the referendum on June 23, 2016, the people of Scotland voted emphatically by 62% to 38% to remain within the European Union, across every counting area from Shetland to Stranraer, the Western Isles to the Borders. Since then, there have been a lot of facts, opinion, and counter-opinion, over Scotland, the UK, and the EU.
