UK health secretary on new coronavirus variant

A new variant of COVID-19 has been identified in England, as the government places London and surrounding areas under the highest level of coronavirus restrictions.

British Health Secretary Matt Hancock said Monday officials have identified “a new variant of coronavirus which may be associated with the faster spread in the south-east of England.”
