UK home sec criticises Trump over Capitol chaos

Britain's home secretary on Thursday described the storming of the U.S. Capitol by a violent mob loyal to President Donald Trump as "terrible beyond words." Responding to a question about Trump's role in egging on the rioters, Priti Patel said "words of provocation are completely wrong."

The violence forced lawmakers into hiding, in a stunning attempt to overturn America's presidential election, undercut the nation's democracy and keep Democrat Joe Biden from replacing Trump in the White House. "Quite frankly, every aspect of the violence and the activities that took place should be condemned," Patel told British broadcaster Sky News.
