Communities in northern England are feeling the strain after England's highest level of coronavirus restrictions were imposed in the county of Lancashire

Business owners in Blackpool, a coastal town which relies on tourism for much of its economy, have said that they face a bleak several months as guests cancel bookings for the half-term school holidays.

Many insist that the tier 3 measures will see them out of business unless the government provides greater support for their industries during the pandemic.

A further 86 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 30,910, NHS England said on Saturday.
