British MP Jacob Rees-Mogg on Thursday accused humanitarian organisation UNICEF of performing "a political stunt of the lowest order." For the first time in the 70 year history of the UN agency, it has launched a domestic emergency response in the UK to help feed children impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday UNICEF pledged a grant of £25,000 (approx. 34,000 US dollars) to the charity School Food Matters to help provide thousands of breakfasts over the two week Christmas holidays to vulnerable children and families living in the south London area of Southwark.
