Marking the 18th anniversary of the deadly '9/11 attacks', US President Donald Trump on September 11 pledged to hit the Taliban harder than ever. Trump participated in the Pentagon Observance Ceremony at the Pentagon to pay respect to the ones who lost their lives in one of the world's worst terrorist attacks in 2001. A few days ago, after the bomb blast in Kabul by the Taliban that left 12 dead including an American soldier, President Donald Trump ended the peace talks with the militant organisation in Afghanistan. The negotiation of the USA with the Taliban was to take back the American troops from Afghanistan.
US President Donald Trump along with his wife Melania went to the Pentagon on Wednesday to pay respect to over 3,000 people who died in the '9/11 attacks'. The US President and the First Lady participated in a moment of silence after which Trump gave a speech.
Trump said, "The First Lady and I are united with you in grief. We cannot erase the pain or reverse the evil of that dark and wretched day, but we offer you all that we have". He then explained how the world noticed the power of American defiance after the attacks. The US President then went on saying, "Eighteen years ago, the terrorists struck this citadel of power and American strength, but the enemies soon learned that they could not weaken the spirit of our people".
The American President also warned the militants of severe consequences if they try to attack America again. He said, "They thought they would use this attack to show their strength, but actually what they showed is unrelenting weakness". He even added to it that if the terrorist organisations carry out another attack on his country, the US troops will go wherever they are and use their power, the likes of which America has never used before.
Last week, an American soldier in Kabul was killed in a suicide car bomb blast which made Trump cancel all the peace talks with the militant organisation Taliban. US President Trump elaborated on this and said, "We had peace talks scheduled. A few days ago, I called them off when I learned that they had killed a great American soldier from Puerto Rico and 11 other innocent people."
He went on warning the terrorists saying, "And I'm not even talking about nuclear power. They will never have seen anything like what will happen to them". The US President on his official twitter handle even shared a video of his speech writing -
Today and every day, we pledge to honor our history, to treasure our liberty, to uplift our communities, to live up to our values, to prove worthy of our heroes, and above all, to NEVER FORGET. #Honor911 pic.twitter.com/3xbEvl92py— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 11, 2019
US President Donald Trump on September 7, a few days before the 18th anniversary of 9/11 attacks, shocked the world while announcing that he has cancelled the secret meeting with his Afghanistan counterpart and the Taliban near Washington. He decided to do so after there was a suicide car bomb attack in the capital city of Afghanistan, Kabul, which took away the lives of one American soldier and 11 other civilians. The Taliban carried out the attack after the US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad to Afghanistan was on a visit to Kabul to brief the Afghan Government on its negotiation with the Taliban that would put an end to the longest war in the region.
