Rain dampened the start of the holiday weekend in the northeastern U.S. on Saturday but in Texas a community beach was packed with people enjoying the outdoors after lockdown restrictions were eased across the state.
At a beach in Port Aransas, people gathered to sunbathe and enjoy the warm weather while practising social distancing.
The Port Aransas community is hoping for a successful Memorial Day weekend after businesses took a major hit when they were forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The area relies on tourists, but has seen a drop in visitors amid measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus over the past two months.
