Fresh off a distant second place in the Nevada caucuses, Joe Biden wasted no time making an appeal to black voters in South Carolina on Sunday.

Maintaining a strong majority among black supporters in the state will likely be crucial to reviving his campaign after disappointing finishes in the first three states in the presidential nomination contest.

And Biden knows it.

Speaking to a crowd at the Royal Missionary Baptist Church in North Charleston on Sunday, he told voters South Carolina will set the tone just days before "Super Tuesday," when 14 states will vote at once.

"I don't expect anything, but I know one thing, and this is real, the African-American community in South Carolina can make a judgment about who the next president of the United States is going to be," he said.
