Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the two Democratic nominees on the 2020 presidential ticket spoke out about the police shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin that left a Black man seriously injured, and the deadly violence that followed, on Wednesday.

Biden said he had spoken to the family of Jacob Blake, adding that he told the family that "justice must and will be done."

"Put yourself in the shoes of every Black father and Black mother in this country and ask, is this what we want America to be? Is this the country we should be?" Biden asked.

Biden's comments came on a day when a white, 17-year-old police admirer was arrested after two people were shot to death during the previous night's unrest.

Harris spoke out during an online event in Michigan.

"And what happened there is so tragic and still represents the two systems of justice in America," Harris said.

"There are still two systems of justice in America."

In the wake of the killings, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers authorized the sending of 500 members of the National Guard to Kenosha, doubling the number of troops.

The governor's office said he is working with other states to bring in additional National Guard members and law officers.

Authorities also announced a 7 p.m. curfew, an hour earlier than the night before.
