Charleston again closing streets for outdoor dining

Officials in West Virginia’s capital city are closing streets this weekend to allow for restaurants to set up outdoor seating during the coronavirus pandemic. Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin said Capitol and Hale streets will be closed between Kanawha Boulevard and Lee Street from Friday at 7 a.m. to Monday at 7 a.m.

The city debuted the outdoor dining plan last weekend and Goodwin said some restaurants reported a boost in sales. Restaurants will provide their own tables, chairs and other seating accommodations and will sanitize items under local health guidelines, according to a news release.
