China: 'US should rather look at its own domestic problems'

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying, gave a befitting reply to Vice President of United States Mike Pence's comments China by saying that Washington should rather look at their own problems on October 25. While speaking in Beijing, Chunying reportedly asked the US to acknowledge problems like gun violence instead of criticising China's record on trade and human rights. Furthermore, Chunying said that Pence's speech was 'full of lies and prejudice'.

Pence criticised China

According to the US Vice President, past administrations have come and gone, all were aware of abuses and the political establishment was silent in the face of “China's economic aggression and human rights abuses”. Every year, a new factory was closed in the heartland, and each new skyscraper went up in Beijing-American workers grew only more disheartened and furthermore China grew more emboldened. Pence also singled out NBA who according to him were acting like 'wholly-owned subsidiary' of Beijing's authoritarian regime for being unsuccessful in standing up to government's criticism.

“Nike promotes itself as a so-called ‘social-justice champion,’ but when it comes to Hong Kong, it prefers checking its social conscience at the door,” the Vice President said in a speech laying out the Trump administration’s approach to China.  

“The political establishment was not only silent in the faces of China’s economic aggression and human rights abuses, but enabled them,”

US Has 'weaponised' Visas: China

China earlier had also accused the US of having 'weaponising' the issuance of visas after the report of the inability of a top Chinese space program official to obtain permission to travel for a key conference in Washington. Chunying further told the reporters that the head of Chinese delegation to the International Astronautical Congress was unable to obtain a visa and made it difficult for Chinese representatives to attend essential important events at the meeting. According to China, Hua has not only weaponised the visa allowances but also repeatedly “defied international responsibilities and obligations and impeded normal international exchanges and cooperation”.
