Colorado white supremacist arrested in thwarted synagogue attack

The federal officials have arrested the man who was espousing anti-Semitic views and was planning to execute an explosion on a historic Colorado synagogue.

The federal officials have taken into custody the man who was allegedly espousing anti-semantic views and was planning to blow up a historic Colorado synagogue. His plan to wipe the synagogue “off the map” amounts to “domestic terrorism", said FBI. The accused was planning the attack along with two co-conspirators who were reported to be undercover-agents of the FBI. 

Holzer's hatred for Jews 

The man named Richard Holzer of Pueblo, Colorado allegedly expressed his hatred against the Jews and his desire to blow the city’s Temple Emanuel synagogue. Reportedly, the 27-year-old was under the impression that the attack would help his race progress. According to the court records, the man was taken into custody by the police on November 1, when he arrived at a motel along with his co-conspirators to take the explosives. The FBI undercover agents provided Holzer with two pipe bombs and sticks of dynamite. However, according to the authorities, those were 'harmless' phony bombs.

"Jews are not a part of the city"

Holzer, however, found the bombs 'gorgeous’. According to a criminal complaint that has been filed in the federal court, Holzer asked the two agents to execute the attack during the night to avoid any police intervention. The complaint also read that Holzer that previously threatened the Jewish community. In the evening, Holzer was seen wearing a Nazi armband, and was carrying a copy of Adolf Hilter’s book Mein Kampf, along with a mask and knife. He allegedly expressed that he wishes to plot something that will send a message across the Jewish community that they are not part of the city.

Undercover FBI agents on his trail 

Dean Phillips, who is a special FBI agent said during a press conference that the investigation against Holzer began back in September when they received information regarding his hate-filled, anti-Semitic behaviour on social media. The FBI deployed two undercover agents who followed him for a month and pretended to be anti-Semitic. He then disclosed his beliefs and motives, and hatched his plot with them.
