US diplomat David Holmes to testify publicly in ongoing impeachment inquiry

In the latest updates on impeachment hearing, David Holmes who was posted as the US embassy official in Ukraine will swear publicly on November 21 before the US House of  Representatives Intelligence Committee, said the impeachment panel on November 18. Previously, he testified that he overheard the call between Trump and Gordon Sondland about Biden's investigation.

Ongoing impeachment inquiry

Holmes will testify in the ongoing impeachment inquiry regarding President Donald Trump’s call with Ukraine counterpart to call for an investigation against the Democratic candidate Joe Biden running for the 2020 Presidential elections. In a closed-door deposition which was held on November 17, Holmes revealed that he overheard a telephonic conversation between Trump and the US ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, where Trump asked Sondland whether Ukraine was willing to carry out an investigation against Joe Biden and his son. 

The impeachment committee announced that Gordon Sondland along with seven witnesses will publicly testify this week. Sondland is scheduled for his deposition on November 20.

Trump ‘strongly considers’ to testify

On the other hand, President of the United States Donald Trump said on November 18 that he would 'strongly consider' testifying in writing as a part of the official impeachment inquiry at the start of next week. The upcoming week will include public testimonies of eight current and former officials regarding President Trump's controversial call with Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump’s views on Pelosi

Recently, Trump took to Twitter to express his views regarding Speaker Nancy Pelosi's suggestion she made over the weekend. President Trump also went on to say that Speaker Pelosi has 'rigged the rules of the inquiry and again denies any wrongdoing while democrats still regard President Trump's actions as 'betrayal of the constitution'. The US President also says that he does not wish to 'give credibility' to the entire process which Republics call a 'sham' and 'hoax'.
