White House hopeful Donald Trump secured a 10-point lead over US President Joe Biden in a poll on the presidential elections of next year. Conducted by the Washington Post and ABC News, the survey found that the former president garnered 52% compared to Biden, who managed to amass 42% of the total votes.

Hailing the poll's outcome, senior Trump adviser Jason Miller wrote on X, “Heads are EXPLODING at the Jeff Bezos Amazon Washington Post, as President Trump now leads Biden nationally by 10." Voters of the poll expressed several concerns over Biden's leadership, including his age and immigration policies.

What does the poll reveal?

While the Biden administration heavily endorses “Bidenomics," 44% of the respondents said that the country's financial situation has deteriorated since he took office. Merely 30% of people view his economic policies in a positive light. In terms of overall performance, 37% of people approved of it while 56% expressed negative views.

When it comes to immigration and the surge of migrants pouring into states like New York, 23% of participants in the poll favoured Biden's policies. On the other hand, 45% strongly rejected them. Amid doubts over his mental acuity at the age of 80, 74% of voters admitted that he is too old to run for president again.

However, 50% also expressed similar age-related doubts over Trump, who is 77 years old. As new polls roll out, both Biden and Trump continue to lead their respective party's primary races to become a nominee in 2024. Trump, despite the string of criminal charges against him in multiple cases, continues to have an overwhelming crowd of supporters.

His rivals include Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley. On the other hand, Biden's campaign continues to insist that he is fit for the job. "I get it, believe me, I know it more than anyone," he said earlier this month, addressing the reports about his age. However, he claims seeking a re-run for the greater good, mainly to protect the American democracy from those like Trump.

"Because in 2024, democracy is on the ballot once again. And let there be no question: Donald Trump and his MAGA Republicans are determined to destroy American democracy. And I will always defend, protect, and fight for our democracy," he asserted at a fundraising event in New York City.
