Appearing on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" on Tuesday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren said she's fighting the coronavirus pandemic and helping American workers, not joining the 2020 Democratic ticket as a vice presidential candidate.

Warren and Meyers both appeared remotely from their homes as people across the country practice social distancing to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Noting that a recent poll showed Warren as the vice presidential favorite among Democratic voters, Meyers asked if Warren was interested in joining the 2020 ticket.

Warren said she hasn't talked to people about the vice presidency, and she's focusing on how the government responds to the pandemic.

Warren said the lack of planning has made the U.S. outbreak worse.

"If we had put in place an effective plan to deal with the coronavirus back in January, we would have saved lives, and we wouldn't put the stress on our medical system that we're putting on right now and the stress on our economy," Warren said.

Warren also told Meyers electing a woman president would put to rest questions about whether women face discrimination when running for president.
