"Cancer touches us all," she said. "And because of that, your work touches us all."

During her virtual visit, the first lady heard from three researchers at the National Cancer Institute, who told her about patient outreach and engagement, cellular immunotherapy and NCI's role this past year in evaluating antibody tests for COVID-19.

The National Cancer Institute is part of the National Institutes of Health, and it's the federal government's main agency for cancer research and training.
