Former Secretary of the United States Hillary Clinton on September 25 said that she supports the formal impeachment inquiry launched against Donald Trump saying that the US President has betrayed the country and is a "clear and present" danger. US 2016 Presidential candidate's tweets came after Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's announcement of launching a formal impeachment inquiry.

Clinton calls it "an emergency"

Hillary Clinton in an interview to international news outlet called it an 'emergency.' Clinton also called the US President "a reckless, corrupt human tornado" further stating that the President was undermining the more perfect union.

Speaking to the international media outlet she said, “I did not come to that decision easily or quickly, but this is an emergency as I see it. This latest behavior around Ukraine, trying to enlist the President of Ukraine in a plot to undermine former Vice President Biden or lose the military aid he needs to defend against Trump's friend Vladimir Putin if that's not an impeachable offense, I don't know what is.”

Impeachment

Nancy Pelosi declared on Wednesday that the House of Representatives will open an official impeachment inquiry into the US President, Donald Trump. The recent turn of events is followed by a complaint of a whistleblower about President Trump pressuring the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, to initiate an investigation into former Vice President, Joe Biden's son.

President Trump had admitted that he had a word with the Ukrainian President and further claimed that even though he was currently busy in representing the US at the United Nations, he would authorise the release the transcript of his conversation with the Ukrainian leader. Fundamentally, impeachment is just the first stage of the process divided into two parts in the Constitution to prosecute and remove a President or any other federal official from the office.

The House of Representatives has the power to impeach any official who commits a crime like bribery, treason or other misdemeanors from the office. In the present case of President Donald Trump, Pelosi believes that the recent actions count as the "betrayal of his oath in office".
